The 2023 Nissan Frontier is the second model year of the nameplate's third generation. The next-gen Frontier was introduced in 2022, and we're confident that this latest model involves focused updates rather than a total redesign. Rumor has it that a new palette of colors will be available, freshly-styled alloy wheels will appear, and the full roster of available features and accessories will expand.
It may be a rumor, but some sources speculate that another engine could join the ranks. Rather than replace the exceptional 3.8-liter V-6 and its best-in-class horsepower output,1 this additional engine could be a smaller unit, poised as a more affordable entry-level configuration.
Only time and the 2023 Nissan Frontier release date will tell, but one thing is for sure: we'll be here to guide you through all of the 2023 Frontier truck's capabilities, features, options, and benefits.
The Frontier comes standard with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine that produces a best-in-class horsepower output.1 How powerful is it? The 2022 Frontier makes a hearty 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque; we expect the 2023 Nissan Frontier to offer the same V-6 engine with the same output.
The 2023 Nissan Frontier should ride on the same superbly-strong fully-boxed ladder frame. With it, the smooth yet robust nine-speed automatic transmission, a Dana® rear axle, and available tow-haul modes, the Frontier could offer a competitive towing capacity.
Specifically, the 2022 model can tow up to 6,720 pounds2 when properly equipped and offer a maximum payload capacity of 1,610 pounds when properly equipped. With these specs in hand, the 2023 Nissan Frontier can handle just about any job.
With the 2022 model delivering up to an EPA-estimated 24 MPG highway,3 it can handle the distance to and from job sites with equally-powerful efficiency to boot.
As you explore our new Nissan Frontier inventory, you'll discover that this truck redefines functional luxury. Everything from the seats to the digital displays is finely tailored with a combination of high-end style, high-end comfort, and uncompromising, long-lasting practicality. For example, the Frontier offers Zero Gravity front seats with specially-designed support that helps eliminate the typical backaches resulting from long-haul trips.
With smart tech like Intelligent Driver Alertness on top, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is designed to make extra-long journeys a confident experience. That's true of its other safety assists. The 2022 model offers Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode, and more.
We expect all current features to be offered in the 2023 Nissan Frontier. 2022 Frontier features like dual-zone auto climate control, NissanConnect 9-inch infotainment touchscreen display, 10-speaker Fender® premium sound system, and wireless smartphone charging will make their way into the 2023 model, with some extra tricks.
The 2022 Frontier arrived with a menu of trims and configurations to suit every pickup driver's tastes. These 2022 configurations include:
All configurations (except for PRO-X and PRO-4X) offer the choice of standard RWD or available 4WD with a two-speed transfer case. There likely will be no changes to this lineup for the 2023 Nissan Frontier, and if there are, we expect them to involve some cool special editions or a new entry-level trim.
Like the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek, the latest Frontier truck is ready to conquer your most challenging off-road adventures. Every model can handle some tough stuff, but the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X takes rugged capabilities to the extreme.
For 2022, this beloved trim level pushed through with Bilstein® off-road performance shocks. Distinct 17-inch alloy wheels and all-terrain tires. An electronic locking rear differential. Underbody skid plates. Special tow hooks. A digital inclinometer, and an Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode. Complemented by high-end interior trim with exclusive Lava Red accents, we expect this awesome package to be just as exciting on the 2023 Nissan Frontier.
Pricing for the 2023 Nissan Frontier is not yet confirmed. However, like every model-year update, we expect a slight price increase, but a focus on competitive truck value will remain. Likewise, the official 2023 Nissan Frontier release date has not been announced. Using last year's model release as a reference, we expect it to debut sometime around September 2022.
